CHIANG MAI, THAILAND
The exploration of the Space Roller complex has been fraught with difficulties. Our first inclination was to mount an expedition under cover of darkness, given its heavily-trafficked location, but it turned out we weren’t the first to have the idea. A group of squatters, understandably hostile to what amounted to home invasion, made very clear that we weren’t welcome in their repurposed paradise.
An afternoon revist found the place empty, its inhabitants out for the day, and the sunlight illuminated an alternate entrance that didn’t require walking through anybody’s living room. Unfortunately the actual skating rink is pitch dark and too massive for flashlights, so taking a decent photo proved impossible (my attempt is below, but I couldn’t get anything that doesn’t look like it belongs on abovetopsecret.com). There are some holes in the roof and I think some light might filter in when the sun is directly above it, so I’ll have to make a return journey with a tripod.
Other than the obvious I’m not really sure what the deal is with Space Roller Extreme Sport & Techno Games. Google actually turns up some references to it being open, but it looks like it’s been abandoned for at least a few years. Anybody interested in an investment opportunity?

I would like to have gotten into there…
like a moth to the dystopian aura of societal fringes, ross will one day either discover the last resting place of ambrose bierce or perish after falling into a secreted vat of LSD, in a derelict hello kitty factory somewhere west of vientiene
