North Korea releases Americans

While we’re on the subject of being imprisoned in scary countries, North Korea just pardoned Euna Lee and Laura Ling, the American journalists they’d sentenced to hard labor after they crossed the China-DPRK border. They were saved by none other than the venerable Bill Clinton, who literally swooped in on his private plane, negotiated their release and is expecting to fly home with them. I can’t even imagine what those talks sounded like, but I do wonder how many tummy-rubs and dunkaroos (do they still make those?) they had to give Kim before he agreed to let them go.
