QUIMBAYA, COLOMBIA
The Quimbaya were a Andean civilization that appeared around the first century AD and lasted for almost a thousand years. Like many other New World cultures, they completely vanished overnight and left behind only their finely crafted gold statuettes.

In honor of this relatively unremarkable civilization the Colombians named an equally unremarkable town after them. Quimbaya has no outstanding views, no interesting museums (the Quimbaya Museum is in Armenia) and no obvious cultural life. The only thing worth mentioning about Quimbaya is the humongous statue of Jesus Christ impaled on their central cathedral. Seriously, this thing is like thirty feet tall.
